The UJB With "Little" Charlie Baty

D'Anbino Tasting Room , 710 Pine Street, Paso Robles, 93446

This is going to be a great show - join the Usonia Jazz Band (it'll be Marc, saxophonist Karl Welz and myself) as we welcome our very special guest 'Little' Charlie Baty, who will be making a rare appearance on the Central Coast. Charlie, guitarist and former bandleader of the well known blues group 'Little Charlie and the Nightcats' combines a strong Charlie Christian influence with a jump blues background, adding in shades of traditional jazz, gypsy jazz, Brazilian music and even polka to bring an energetic, whimsical approach to the guitar. Guitar aficionados won't want to miss his wonderful playing, inspired by such swing luminaries as Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt.

Come on out and help give Charlie a warm Central Coast welcome!

SLO Jazz Festival!

This just in!

We'll be playing at the SLO Jazz Festival in Mission Plaza on May 20th.  I'm thrilled to be making my debut at this festival, a relatively recent addition to the central coast festival lineup.  As always there will lots of great local music as well as some phenomenal headliners from out of town.  This is just one day a year, so block off your schedule and make a point to spend the date down at the Mission.  All the details at: http://www.slojazzfest.org/

Take a walk "On the Sunnyside of the Street" with jazz vocalist Dawn Lambeth as she delights you with her effervescent renditions of songs from the Swing Era, evoking the bathtub gin of Boardwalk Empire as well as the top hats and tails of the Great Gatsby.  You'll think you've traveled back in time to an old fashioned supper club as you journey from hot swing tunes of the 1920's to romantic ballads of the Big Band Era.

"Her voice is special – a beautiful instrument, lending itself easily to elation or the bittersweet feelings so often found in the songs of the great period – and she brings deep feeling to her music, without ever emoting or overacting. She doesn’t imitate anyone, but the memorable singers we all know resonate through her own singular approach, gentle and unaffected."
